The Appearance of Disappearance 2007

This body of work was done from my rooftop garden in Vancouver. Living in this urban landscape provided a different perspective, than seeing a landscape for the first time.

Through daily observation, the information is distilled and the buildings become so familiar they are just structures which the light diffuses and dissolves. For me, these paintings were about atmosphere, the complexity of how the eye organizes dissolving information and creating a sense of place.
